Oil Pulling: a Modern Ayurvedic Tool?

An ancient practice that supports both mouth and mind.

After I've scraped my tongue I try to do oil pulling. Now, to be honest, I go through phases where I manage to do it every other day, or on weekends. However, there are also times where I forget or simply don't make the time for it. I'm a strong believer of doing what feels right for you (with the firm exception that being active is always right for you, no matter how you feel - unless you're in hospital, which I hope will never be the case for you).
I take one tablespoon of coconut oil (I use coconut oil from threebyone.eu as it's all natural, ethically sourced and sustainable). Swish it gently for five to ten minutes (I sometimes forget the time and get up to 15 minutes, which is also fine) whilst doing some stretches, shower, prepare my morning tea, or just potter around. Then spit it out into a tissue / rubbish bin (not the sink as it'll clog up), give my mouth a quick rinse, and brush my teeth.
It’s a quiet detox; removing what the body has processed overnight. If it feels too long, start with just a few minutes (the coconut oil does need a bit of time to fully melt though) and increase the minutes over time.
If you'd like to say a little mantra whilst swishing:
“Slow movements purify faster than rush ever will.” Happy swishing!
P.s. Coconut oil can also be used as a natural, and very effective make-up remover, and even as a hair mask.
